Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 8 am–6 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Eastside Machine & Custom Fab at (512) 389-5055; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Austin is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Austin follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

You're going to meet a man named Israel who doesn't know a dam thing about repairing anything the proper way! I wouldn't trust this guy with surfacing any heads you have. Don't go here unless you want the run around and a lot of guessing!

They didn’t seal the head Studs they only put two washers on the nuts for the head studs on all of the studs. There’s only two of them that had washers. Brought them two carburetors we got one back that had a bunch of brackets taken off they said it was gonna take a couple days and it took a months we get it back put it in the car put the carburetor on it got it running took a compression test. Only 70 psi to 90 psi on all the cylinders took off the heads, the head gaskets were junk. The head bolts didn’t have no seal. The head studs didn’t have no washers. They broke the motor in with 3 1/2 quarts of oil. It was barely on the dipstick when we got it back permit tax on head gaskets

Had them rebuild the engine in my truck. They ended installing my head gasket on upside down and backwards so that no oil could get into the cylinder head. When I took it back for them to fix it, they took over two months to get it into the shop and then another two months to actually "fix" it, which probably would have taken longer if I hadn't gone down there every day to inspect the work. Fix it is in quotes because they did a horrible job with bolts missing everywhere. The exhaust down pipe wasn't even bolted up when I went to go pick it up. While it was at the shop, they some how bent a push rod and had to go track down a set of pushrods off the internet. Stay away!!

They took 3 moths to do the work they had to do. When they returned the engine it was missing parts. They didn't even bother putting it back together

This is a very reputable shop, I’d take any work I’d need done to them in a heartbeat. Very friendly and quick with service, above all the quality of work is next level. I’ve had head work done, and a very reliable motor put together by them, they were quick on turnaround for both jobs too. Because of them my motor is more reliable while making vastly more power. East Side Machine Shop has well earned my stay as a loyal customer.
